Recovered from the undead remains of Yurian Valenko.
NEURAL SHREDDER
The Neural Shredder is a barely understood piece of technology employed by the Imperium and Eldar Corsairs. As a weapon it does not damage its target in the conventional sense. Nor can it be “targeted” at a specific enemy. Rather, it projects a wave of electromagnetic energy in the direction of fire. This wave is of the same frequency of the central nervous system, overloading brain and nerve receptors resulting in rather catastrophic effects on the creatures within the area of effect. Symptoms undoubtedly range from seizures and convulsions, leading to unconsciousness or even death. As a consequence of its rather specific design, the Neural Shredder is obviously useless against unliving material such as equipment and vehicles, though it passes directly through such objects as if they were not there. Therefore armour is of no protection against a neural shredder, neither are the operators of heavily plated vehicles, or the inhabitants of buildings.
The Neural Shredder is a rare and exotic weapon rarely seen in the galaxy, but it is a common armament of Officio Assassinorum agents trained by the Callidus temple, though it can occasionally be seen in the hands of other individuals resourceful enough to acquire one, such as members of the Inquisition.
TIMEWORN CALLIDUS TEMPLE NEURAL SHREDDER
Weapon, very rare
Damage: 1d4 psychic, 1 lb., ammunition (battery 10, range (cone) 20), loading. Proficiency: Small Guns.
An exotic Neural Shredder, a short-ranged weapon that ravages the nervous system of its targets. This strange weapon’s origin is unknown, although some speculate that it is but one of a range of psychic weapons developed by the Adeptus Astra Telepathica. It is a standard weapon for the Officio Assassinorum‘s Callidus agents. What Yurian, a lowly naval auxiliary, was doing with it is lost to time.
Once fired the normally matte black skymetal gun glows at its discharge point, a dull gray crystal, in a sickly green colour before releasing the built up energy. The shredder creates a cone out to its range and all caught in the cone must make a DC 15 Wisdom save or suffer intense headaches that dull the senses and weaken willpower causing the target to have disadvantage on Wisdom, Charisma and Intelligence saving throws as well as all related ability and skill checks until the target succeeds at a DC 15 Wisdom save to end the effect. The weapon ignores all cover out to its range of effect. Otherwise the effects fade after 1 hour. On a critical hit the DC to end the effect increases to 20.
