Ilvara Mizzrym 3.0

I made multiple versions of Ilvara.  The first time the party encountered her she was as outlined in the Out of the Abyss adventure – basically a default drow priestess from the Monster Manual.  The second time she caught up them she had Lolth’s Favour, but the party ran before she could unleash any of her powers.  The third and final version she had lost Lolth’s Favour and was getting desperate to recapture the party of fugitives and this is the version the party confronted and killed.

This version also had a custom Shoor and two unique drow – Onauth a ranger and Kietti assassin.  Asha and Jorlan were left as written.

Lolth’s Judgement. Whenever Ilvara hits an enemy with an attack, any spiders within line of sight to Ilvara gains advantage to attack rolls against that enemy until the end of Ilvara’s next turn.

Fey Ancestry. Ilvara has advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put her to sleep.

Sunlight Sensitivity. While in sunlight, Ilvara has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

ACTIONS
Multiattack.  Ilvara makes two scourge or venom ray attacks.  In addition, she may use Venom Blast when available, Cloud of Darkness or Darkfire.

Scourge.  Melee Weapon Attack: +5, reach 5 ft., one target.
Hit: 5 (1d6+2) piercing damage plus 17 (5d6) poison damage.

Venom Ray.  Ranged Weapon Attack: +9, range 100 ft., one target.
Hit: 6 (1d6+3) poison damage.

Venom Blast (1/day, Recharge when first Bloodied).  Illvara unleashes a 60-foot cone. All non-worshipers of Lolth in the cone must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw or take 5d6+6 poison damage and the target is pushed back 15 feet.  On a successful save the target takes half damage and is pushed back only 5 feet.

Cloud of Darkness (1/day).  Ilvara creates a 15-foot-radius sphere on a target within line of sight. The burst creates a zone that lasts until the end of the Ilvara’s next turn. The zone blocks line of sight for all creatures except Ilvara and any drow ally.  While entirely in the zone, any creature other than allied drow are blinded (replaces darkness).

Darkfire (1/day).  Ranged 100 feet; +6 vs Dexterity; until the end of the drow priestess’s next turn, the target grants advantage to all attacks against it, and the target cannot benefit from invisibility or concealment (replaces faerie fire).

REACTIONS
Lolth’s Wrath (Recharge on a 6).   An ally who dies within line-of-sight of Ilvara explodes, releasing a burst of spectral spiders that bite all targets in a 20-foot-square centred on a dead drow ally.  Each creature in the area of effect must make a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw or take 4d8+5 necrotic damage (half on success). The drow targeted by this power is permanently slain.

TACTICS
Ilvara is desperate to recover (or kill) the escaped slaves (aka the party) and will not retreat from battle – as death awaits her either way.  She will stay at range for as long as possible as she is not as an effective melee combantent.

DESCRIPTION
The priestess was a very ambitious and cruel individual, wanting to rise in Lolth’s esteem. She considered commanding an outpost as a stepping stone in her ascension. She also knew the posting was temporary, and she intended to wring every advantage from it in the meantime. Ilvara also enjoyed taunting and tormenting enemies and underlings alike.
