I didn’t like the generic nature of the drow pursuit force from Out of the Abyss. I modified some key characters and added/removed NPCs at different encounters. This is a drow ranger – beastmaster I added to the final combat encounter between the drow of Velkynvelve and the party.

Beastmaster. Onauth has a deathjump spider named Clinks as his animal companion. The spider enjoys all the benefits of a ranger’s beast companion as if Onauth was a 4th level ranger as per the PHB. In addition, as a bonus action, Onauth may command Clink to move allowing the spider to move up to half its speed. This is in addition to Clink’s normal movement.
Fey Ancestry. Onauth has advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put the drow to sleep.
Innate Spellcasting. Onauth’s spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 11). He can innately cast the following spells as an action or bonus action, requiring no material components.
At will: dancing lights
1/day each: cloud of darkness (as darkness but it does not block line of sight for drow), darkfire (as faerie fire)
Sunlight Sensitivity. While in sunlight, Onauth has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.
