THE LENZ
Weapon (shortbow), legendary (requires attunement)
Bolts from this Corpus branded bow (what is “Corpus” is lost to time) deliver a one-two punch of an icy pulse, followed by a conventional explosion. Excess ammo picked up for other weapons will be converted into charges for the Lenz. Warning, safety-protocols do not exist on this prototype.
You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this bow, and you suffer no disadvantage when attacking in melee with this weapon. The weapon normally does force damage and has unlimited ammunition for this basic functionality. Once per short rest you may trigger the explosive power of the Lenz. You declare this before making an attack roll. The next attack – hit or miss – triggers a double detonation in a 20 foot sphere at the point the force arrow lands.
The first detonation does no damage but chills targets until the end of your next round. All non-legendary targets are slowed (as the slow spell). Legendary targets may ignore this effect if they make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw. immediately after the first detonation the second effect triggers as the area is blasted by fire. This effect is identical to a fireball spell.
If you ever roll a natural 1 on the detonation attack roll the blast automatically triggers centred on you.
