Barbarians of Thylea

Harking back to Conan and the original D&D barbarian class.

The barbarians of Thylea, in general, detest magic and those who use it. They will, at low levels of experience, refuse to employ any sort of magic item if they recognize it as such. They will often seek to destroy magic items, and if successful they receive the magic resistance trait depending on the power of the magic item destroyed. While magic-users will be shunned initially, and always viewed with suspicion, clerical spells of the type used by shamans and witch doctors are not so viewed, though high-level clerical spells are suspect.

Magic Resistance. You have advantage on saving throws against magical effects.  How long you have this boon is determined by the power of the magic item you destroyed:

  • Consumable – 1 combat encounter or up to 1 minute, whichever comes first.
  • Common – 2 combat encounters or up to 1 hour, whichever comes first.
  • Uncommon – Until your next short or long rest.
  • Rare – Until your next long rest.
  • Very Rare – For 1 week.
  • Legendary – For 1 month.
  • Artifact – Permanently.
