CHIROS Chiros is an agricultural planet with a growing reputation. Whilst it is very beautiful, like most agri-planets, its tranquil farms and sparsely populated settlements can be suddenly torn asunder by marauding bandits. Whole herds of grazing cattle can be suddenly stolen within the blink of an eye. Cattle rustlers are particularly a constant menace and the Imperial Commander, Leroy Jackson, cannot control them. The arrival of these bandits can often be seen from a mile off as huge dust clouds can be seen across the horizon. Uncharacteristically for the technological age, most Chiros bandits prefer to utilise the most ancient transport known to man: the horse. Vehicles are expensive to maintain in such a dusty environment as Chiros. With horses the rocky deserts are easily navigable. Because of this, certain units of the Adeptus Arbites have to become expert riders in order that they can counter this threat; hover vehicles can only go so far and few settlements on Chiros can afford them. Planetary Governor: Leroy Jackson, Imperial Commander. Planet Type: Agricultural World. Regime: Old-fashioned but fair. Justice usually swift with serious crimes punishable by death from hanging or firing squad. Defence: Small. Notable History: The saga of Dick the Quick is amongst the best loved stories but the best loved is probably the story of Josey Eastwood. This outlaw was hounded for a crime he didn't commit. Much of the tale was fanciful stuff but what is known is that he was the fastest drawer of a laspistol in the West. Notable Settlements: These are amongst the most populous settlements on Chiros. Near to these towns are a few quaint villages numbering, at most, a population of a few hundred. An average village will have a population of roughly 150.
