INTRODUCTION

WHAT IS ROLEPLAY?

Most of you will know what roleplay is (and if you've come for that sort of roleplay you're going to be sadly disappointed!), so skip this section. If you're a newcomer, you are probably used to the idea of battles between armies of miniatures, like those used in Warhammer 40,000. Imagine what it would be like to actually be one of the warriors, to take part in his everyday actions and travel from place to place as if you were him i.e. you are taking over his role: this is roleplay.

In roleplay games you and a group of friends (yes, I'm afraid you need friends, so throw out that blow-up doll) get together and act your part in an adventure under the guidance of a Games Master (GM). You determine what you want your character to do and roll the appropriate dice, but where this differs from a table top battle is that you get to interact with the inhabitants of a town and solve clues to ultimately rescue the princess, or not (OK, bring back that blow-up doll).

GAME MECHANICS

The game can use one of two systems, GURPS or a modified Warhammer RPG systems.  This document will be using the modified GURPS unless otherwise stated.

Where GURPS is used over w40kRPG information has been used (and eventually licensed) from the following source books GURPS Basic set, Compendium I and II, Vehicles, Ultra-tech I and II, Space, Robots, Psionics and Bio-tech.

Warhammer and my own personal additions and modifications will be added in where appropriate.

Please bear in mind this is a WORK in PROGRESS. So its not perfect - yet.

NB: The standard monetary unit in the "Domination of Man" (DoM) is the credit.  The symbol for credit is $, so 200 credits would be typed as $200. The Metric system is also used where possible some places i have not yet converted across because my source books are American and they are in Imperial units

WHAT DO I NEED TO START?

To play the pen and paper RPG you need GURPS, basic set minmum. To play the persistent world you need the game file, which you can get here.  It is designed to run on Windows 95/98 platform (not available yet).
