FROM THE DIARY OF RIKKU YUFINA KYIUS: Iron Gods Session 12

Our Brave Band of Adventurers the Crimson Lotus:

  • Charisma, a “human” -mutant- sorceress whose power source is Gamma Radiation which she was exposed to as a child.  As a child of the Atom her hair goes green in the presence of radiation and she progressively gets greener the more powerful spells she casts (and as she gets angry).  She has no love for the Technic League.
  • Heidt, a ranger who has traded an affinity for nature for an affinity for machines.  This android has mastered cybertheurgy as well as the lasgun.  Has chosen the mechromancer archetype (blog post at some later point!).  Seeking to learn more about his history he has become an archaeological expert on all things related to the Rain of Stars.
  • Rikku, an elven rogue who was adopted by Khonnir Baine when he found her wandering the wasteland near Torch more than a decade ago.  She claims to be a blood elf from a far-away land.  Her history is tied up with a nearby ruin.
  • Sylvanus, a dark elf monk who escaped the clutches of mind flayer slavemasters in the area of the Scar of the Spider after a daring raid by surface dwelling heroes freed her.
  • Brokthor, a human fighter who was raised by dwarfs and thinks he IS a dwarf.
  • Tufast, a human cleric who serves the unpredictable goddess of thunder and lightning Dorana.  Much like his barbarian family he hates technology and has a particular spite for robots.  He sees the cleansing power of Dorana as the perfect antidote to the curse of the robot infestation of Nimmeria.

LORDS OF RUST

SESSION 12

By Rikku Yuffina Kyrus

After a quick rest, Tufast surprisingly states that Hellion looks like a demon lord, a unique one, and maybe a new one to boot (if he even is one) as far as he knows. We go through the double doors the robots came out of. This room is relatively big. There are four giant pillars of purple light reaching to the roof. Hiedt says these are powerful giant batteries. Double doors are straight ahead and a single door is to our right. We decide to go through the double doors. This room is very small. It is bare save the giant circular pit that covers most of the room. The pit emits a stinky smell. We peer in and see unusually shiny rubble. Brocktha thinks there is a gelatinous cube down there. Charisma casts light on a rock and throws it down. There is a smashing sound as the rock descends. Then, there is a gurgling sound and black goo emerges from the pit. We dash out and close both doors. We open the single door. This room is full of Hellion symbols and sleeping mats; a mass of junk lies everywhere. We search and find a secret door that leads back to the worship room. Otherwise we find nothing. We then descend a flight of stairs.

Halfway down Hellion appears on one of the monitors and says, “YOU. WILL. DIE.” Brocktha responds like any good warrior and throws an axe at the screen and Hellion casts confusion in return before the lights go out. Brocktha, Heidt and myself are confused.   I recover quickly, Brocktha is confused, Hiedt ran down the stairs in his confusion, and pale skinned creatures in black rags ambush the rest. One dies and it explodes into black goo. Hiedt runs back up the stairs firing his lasgun as he goes. Deathtrap says, “Come here little one,” before his adamantium claws slice one of the creepers into nothingness. He swipes one, killing it. The third one dies from the now recovered Brocktha who smashes it with his maul. We loot and find three Hellion unholy symbols – the upraised claw. We go down the stairs and turn left into a corridor. There are two doors. One is a green access door and the other is gray access. Then the corridor turns right. We open the gray access door with on of the cards we looted from the Haunted Wreck. The room beyond looks like a creeper nest (or guardpost) and we find nothing of value. We follow the corridor and come to a door. We open it.

Something like this but without the 80s models.

This room is huge. Flashing monitors and computers cover the room. Large doors are everywhere. A huge hololithic generator is in the farthest corner of this room. It shows a map of this place that looks like some kind of titanic vehicle with saws at the front. Then, Hellion appears on the hololithic player. He says to his minions, “Destroy these meat puppets.” And six orcs charge us. A loud buzzing, whirling grinding sound is coming from one of the doors to our right. It is coming closer by the minute! The orcs say Kulgara is going to cut us up before charging. Three warlock creepers appear from behind some computers ahead of us.

While we were backstabbing, firing, and smashing orcs, Tufast casts a lightning spell that makes all the computers and chairs fly in all directions. Then, a door to the right opens and an ugly, orc with a buzzing bright red chainsword charges Brocktha. Brocktha withdraws while loading the grenade launcher hoping to end Kulgara quickly. But it is not to be his grenade goes wide destroying only computers turning the area it lands in into technological junk.

We notice Kulgara has three grenades on his belt. Charisma then steps in, holds up her wand, and fires magic missile at Kulgara’s grenades. Two of them go off in fire and lightning wounding Kulgara terribly but catching Tufast in the blast in sending him into unconsciousness.

Another door opens to our right and we see a huge, fat, ettin heading our way. We guess this is Draigs. Hiedt fires his lasgun and kills Kulgara. On the way here, Draigs goes berserk from another one of Hellion’s spell and rampages. Sylvanus, Tufast, and I backstabbed and thunder bolted the remaining creepers. Brocktha quickly grabs the last grenade from Kulgara’s belt, and while Draigs is roaring, chucks the white grenade into the ettin’s mouth (DM’s note: critical hit on a 5d6 grenade)!

The grenade goes off loudly, but unfortunately Draigs is still on his feet. Out of the corner of our eyes we see the brain rats appear. They swarm Draigs then they mind control him. We loot and find a green access card, a technological chest piece, and Brocktha claims the chainsword. We all look at the map, but Tufast carries out a conversation with the ettin using the rats.

Hiedt and I search the rubble and find wondrous technological treasures:

  • Hololithic message and storage container for about 50 discs.
  • Two “cups” of superb quality one that says “I love ROBOTS” with a picture of an odd looking roboton it on it and a plain mug that Rikku painted a blood elf icon on.
  • And toy soldiers(models) made from a bone like substance.

We also grabbed tiny blankets with the word DIVINITY and a logo on it (mouse pads).
