eldritch giants

In the process of converting Scales of War.  I’ll be starting my campaign from Garaitha’s Anvil – the 12th adventure in the series – skipping most of the build-up adventures as I have characters who are coming of Tomb of Annihilation and are level 14.

Ω Edit: Decision by my group to do a gothic horror campaign so will not be using these creatures… yet (Im sure I’ll find a use for these guys).  Other conversions will be incoming pending the kickoff of my Bloodborne/Steam Punk inspired campaign later this year.

ELDRITCH GIANTS
COME FROM A DIFFERENT TIME — an earlier age when the primordials made the world. Although fashioned from fire, stone, and storm, the primordials’ wondrous creation was heavily invested with magic, and the eldritch giants aided their primordial lords in the world’s formation. Although their powers have ebbed since those days, eldritch giants remember their ancient mastery of magic and forever seek to regain it.

Hit: 30 (6d6 + 9) force damage.

Sweeping Sword (1/Encounter). The giant sweeps its eldritch blade in front of him.  Each creature within a 15-foot cone of the giant must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking 54 (12d8) force damage on a failed save, and be knocked prone or half as much damage on a successful one and not knocked prone.

Eldritch Field (Recharge 5–6). The giant charges an area centred on him out to a 30-foot sphere of rippling magic. hurls a magical lightning bolt at a point it can see within 500 feet of it. Each creature within 10 feet of that point must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking 54 (12d8) lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

REACTIONS
Consume Magic. The eldritch giant attempts to absorb a spell during the process of casting that spell. If the target is casting a spell of 3rd level or lower, its spell fails and has no effect. If it is casting a spell of 4th level or higher, the eldritch giant makes an ability check at +4 against a DC equal to 10 + the spell’s level. On a success, the creature’s spell fails and has no effect. On a success, the eldritch giant deals an extra 10 (3d6) force damage on all its attacks until the end of its next turn.

ELDRITCH GIANT LORE
Arcana DC 20. Eldritch giants dwell near fonts of magical power. They guard such places jealously, leaving them only to seek out more magical power, such as an artifact or a piece of lost knowledge. Eldritch titans lord over their lesser kin, jealously guarding the greatest items and secrets of magic for themselves.

Arcana DC 25. An eldritch giant’s skin is tattooed with magical patterns that protect it and allow it to absorb conjurations and zones to bolster its attacks. These patterns also grant the giant the ability to teleport on flows of arcane energy. A particular eldritch giant or titan might have access to other magical powers, as well as rituals and magic items.
