Ilvara Mizzrym v2.0

I made multiple versions of Ilvara.  The first time the party encountered her she was as outlined in the Out of the Abyss adventure – basically a default drow priestess from the Monster Manual.  The second time she caught up them is the one listed below, but the party ran before she could unleash any of her powers.  The third and final version was the one the party confronted and killed.  This version also left her henchmen – Asha, Jorlan and Shoor – untouched (as written).  I did add in some custom drow snipers and scouts

Lolth’s Favour.  Currently, Ilvara has Lolth’s favour.  This allows her to summon a yochlol demon with a 100% success chance as well as call upon 2 Lolth Blessed spiders (treat as giant spiders except they have maximum hit points, are chaotic evil and their poison is much more virulent – DC 15) to do her bidding.  Both abilities can be used once per day.  However, the spiders will persist until they are slain or Lolth’s favour has been removed.

Fey Ancestry. Ilvara has advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put her to sleep.

Sunlight Sensitivity. While in sunlight, Ilvara has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

ACTIONS
Multiattack.  Ilvara makes two scourge attacks.  In addition, she may use Spider Link, Cloud of Darkness or Darkfire as bonus actions.

Scourge.  Melee Weapon Attack: +5, reach 5 ft., one target.
Hit: 5 (1d6+2) piercing damage plus 17 (5d6) poison damage.

Pain Web.  Ranged Weapon Attack: +5, range 50 ft., one target.
Hit: 8 (1d6+5) necrotic damage and the target is immobilised and poisoned for 1 minute on a failed DC 14 Constitution saving throw (save ends both effects).

Spider Link.  As an action (standard, bonus or reaction) Ilvara can transfer up to 22 points of damage she has taken to a spider or a drow within 30 feet of her.  She cannot transfer more hit points than the creature has remaining.

Cloud of Darkness (1/day).  Ilvara creates a 15-foot-radius sphere on a target within line of sight. The burst creates a zone that lasts until the end of the Ilvara’s next turn. The zone blocks line of sight for all creatures except Ilvara and any drow ally.  While entirely in the zone, any creature other than allied drow are blinded (replaces darkness).

Darkfire (1/day).  Ranged 100 feet; +6 vs Dexterity; until the end of the drow priestess’s next turn, the target grants advantage to all attacks against it, and the target cannot benefit from invisibility or concealment (replaces faerie fire).

Summon Demon (1/day).  Illvara attempts to magically summon a yochlol with a 30 percent chance of success. If the attempt fails, Illvara takes 1dl0 psychic damage. Otherwise, the summoned demon appears in an unoccupied space within 60 feet of its summoner, acts as an ally of its summoner, and can’t summon other demons.  It remains for 10 minutes, until it or its summoner dies, or until its summoner dismisses it as an action.

REACTIONS
Lolth’s Wrath (Recharge on a 6).   An ally who dies within line-of-sight of Ilvara explodes, releasing a burst of spectral spiders that bite all targets in a 20-foot-square centred on a dead drow ally.  Each creature in the area of effect must make a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw or take 4d8+5 necrotic damage (half on success). The drow targeted by this power is permanently slain.

TACTICS
Ilvara is a canny combatant and will have a pair of giant spiders already summoned.  As she is currently in favour with Lolth, these are Lolth Blessed Spiders.  The spiders will never voluntarily move more than 30 feet away from Ilvara. She will also summon a yochlol temptress during the battle with a 100% chance of success due to Lolth’s favour.

She will also summon a yochlol temptress during the battle with a 100% chance of success due to Lolth’s favour.

DESCRIPTION
The priestess was a very ambitious and cruel individual, wanting to rise in Lolth’s esteem. She considered commanding an outpost as a stepping stone in her ascension. She also knew the posting was temporary, and she intended to wring every advantage from it in the meantime. Ilvara also enjoyed taunting and tormenting enemies and underlings alike.
