As the Vindicta plummeted to the unnamed planet below Maxine looked out of one of the many beautiful cathedral-like viewing ports. The ship was doomed, but it didn’t matter, most, if not all, of the human crew, had been taken by the plague already and there was nothing any of them could do about it. They had failed their masters and their charges so completely that it would be better to burn up along with the ship.
Known as ironborn by the simple folk the androids of the crashed spacecraft have survived mostly intact. Many have faulty memories due to damage but are otherwise fully functional. The ironborn is suitable for any campaign centred around a crashed starship. For example, the classic Expedition to the Barrier Peaks or the Iron Gods Adventure Path from Paizo. In fact, this race was used (and play tested) from level 1 to 20 in my own personal campaign which was a 5e conversion of the Iron Gods Adventure Path.
