The Okami

The Okami are the spawn of Munasukaru. Full bloodied Okami (i.e. their father was another oni or fiend) are ja noi oni. Half blooded Okami (i.e. their father was a non-oni, in this case a hobgoblin bakemono) are either humanoids or monstrosities depending on what exactly is birthed. They both have similar appearances – long […]

The Pinnacle and Writhing Tower

I simplified this encounter as the PCs engaged this encounter right after the swine shogun which was a pretty epic battle. I also changed it to a straight up cyclops-oni (a reskinned cyclops). If the PCs had this encounter first and prevented the gong from being run then I would have ran it as written. The Pinnacle […]

Gakimushi Nest

The original cut content used phase spiders which I didn’t really feel was very “Oriental Adventures”. Swapped them with these guys. Had my PCs head scratching but otherwise a fairly straightforward encounter. Gakimushi Nest Lurking in the upper arms of a 100’ high keteleeria is a particularly dense web which shrouds the whole canopy of the tree, which chokes within […]

Tortured Cherry Spirit

This was a lead-on adventure from the skill challenge. Tortured Cherry Blossom Spirit The rich black soil is littered with rotted flowers, and there are many varieties of dead and withered plants and trees throughout the room. The single healthy-looking plant is an eight-foot cherry tree located in the centre of the “garden”. Three ugly […]

One of the optional encounters in the Forest of Decay. The tree is […]

The Lake of Tranquil Contemplation

This was meant to be a “scenic” encounter – that is – the PCs see it and move on. But no, the bamboo folk ninja in my party was keen to talk to the birds via “speak with animals”. This triggered the gryphs. They swarmed the PC and laid eggs in him., which then hatched and flew away. The PCs then retreated. To […]

The Pavilion of the Dark Spider

Encounter in the Garden of Vivid Decay. This thing killed two of my PCs but it was a fun battle fighting a funnel web the size of a house. The Pavilion of the Dark Spider This pavilion teeters on the edge of the garden and stares into the dark, the remnants of a graceful arched […]
