ARMOURY: Divinity Naval Pistols

I added these as part of the Mutant Manticore loot.  I had Rikku in mind, an elven rogue who wanted to become a more ranged attacker than and a melee attacker.  And she asked if she could use pistols instead – God Bless her little heart – OF COURSE YOU CAN.  I created a feat to go with it to essentially allow the firearm wielding version of the hand-crossbow rogue.

NAVAL PISTOL (MARS-PATTERN)
The naval officer’s standard sidearm is a variant of the basic autopistol that uses fragmenting ammunition designed to stop a Screen Shot 2015-03-06 at 20.37.47target dead in its tracks, at the expense of range. Most Imperial ships engrave the vessel’s name on the stock, making those from famous naval warships extremely valuable (if illegal) to wealthy collectors from high society and the nobility.

+1  DIVINITY NAVAL PISTOL
Weapon (slug-thrower), very rare

Damage: 1d6 +1 piercing, Weight: 3 lbs, Properties: Ammunition (50/150) [12 gauge], light, loading, no penalty at point blank Screen Shot 2015-03-06 at 20.37.52range.  Proficiency: Small Guns.

This pair of weapons are the personal side-arms of the Lord-captain of the Divinity – a one Kinker Drub – scion of the rogue trader house Drub.   These weapons were ancient when the Reign of Stars occurred over 1,000 years  ago.  This weapon fires a single shot before requiring a reload but that single shot packs a huge kick.

Gilded in gold and silver they have a name emblazoned on the handles in gothic – DIVINITY – along with a coat of arms of some kind – A gavel on a red shield with a starburst background – perhaps a family crest?

SMALL GUNS EXPERT (FEAT)
Thanks to extensive practice with small guns, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain proficiency in small guns.
  • You ignore the loading quality of small guns with which you are proficient.
  • Being within 5 feet of a hostile creature doesn’t impose disadvantage on your ranged attack rolls.
  • When you use the Attack action and attack with a one handed weapon, you can use a bonus action to attack with a loaded small gun you are holding.
