MACHINE GUN POETRY

Weapon (assault rifle, relic), legendary, requires attunement

  • XP Value: 5,000
  • GP Value: 50,000

Wielded by the bounty hunter known as the Terminator, Machine Gun Poetry (MGP) has writing scrawled on the side of the weapon in red are the words “It’s a great day for an incineration!.

MGP  is a two-handed weapon (2 slots), has a range of 80/200 feet and does 2d8 fire damage. MGP also has the burst fire option:

Burst Fire. A weapon that has the burst fire property can make a normal single-target attack, or it can spray a 10-foot-cube area within normal range with shots. Each creature in the area must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take the weapon’s normal damage. This action uses ten pieces of ammunition.

Overheat.  MGP has special depletion rules:

  • On a natural 20 on the attack roll MGP does double the maximum damage to the target, but overheats. It can not be used again until it cools down, which takes 1d3 rounds.
  • On a natural 1 the weapon does not deplete. It overheats and is “broken” until you take a long rest (where it is assumed you spend time fixing it).  However, 3 firebats burst from the weapon and divebomb your target and, if they hit, can explode at your command. Otherwise they persist until the end of the encounter.
  • Everytime MGP gains the broken condition, its depletion rate increases by 1.  Once the depletion range is 1 to 20 the weapon is permanently broken.

MGP is immune to fire damage and resistant to radiant and radiation, i.e., it cannot be destroyed by these energy types as part of item wastage checks. The effectiveness of the firebats may also be upgraded at the Manufactorium.
